Tumbled – #NaPoWriMo20 – Day 7

#NaPoWriMo 2020, Other Poetry Add comments

Hello!

I loved the story about tumbleweed ‘attacking’ motorists from the article below, and it also made me sigh to read the title of it – the “weird” has definitely been brought into 2020 now!!

https://www.newswars.com/2020-just-began-and-weird-things-are-already-starting-to-happen-all-over-the-world/

The NaPoWriMo prompt for today was to write a poem based on a strange news article, so I wrote this (equally off the wall, I feel) short poem:

I tumbled –

Weed-strewn –

Into nothingness.

Muffled cries all around.

In my upside-down car

The world seemed cushioned –

Imprisoned in a rogue hairdo

Intent on stopping traffic.

I like the fact that the second line could be taken as a reference to drug use, because I suppose for the motorists the ‘invasion’ would have been a trippy experience?!

Anyway, enough of my tenuous links, I’m away to think poetic thoughts (and to sleep). See you for Day 8!

I particularly like the first verse, which could stand all alone in its mystery.
