Hiya 😊
It was a frustrating morning of trying to get our internet connection to behave, so I’ll get straight to what napowrimo.net tasked me with before my laptop gets taken again:
Today’s prompt comes to us from Juan Martinez. It asks you to think about a small habit you picked up from one of your parents, and then to write a piece that explores an early memory of your parent engaged in that habit, before shifting into writing about yourself engaging in the same habit.
This is the quick poem that came up for me (it doesn’t totally meet the prompt, but I was due to go read to the kids!)
Mum sings when she’s busy,
Mum sings when she’s sad,
(She sang while in labour
when pains suddenly got bad)
I hear myself singing,
or humming,
more than I thought
when I’m crafting
(or walking!).
We copy street noises,
and put on weird voices,
and realise: sometimes
these weren’t even choices!
Love ya, mum! 😉
Â
I’m rushing off again, my lovely friend is keeping an eye on our kids at the park, so I’d better go retrieve them when I said I would before she has gremlins on her hands 😉 take care and I’ll ‘see’ you later, ‘gator!

Another excellent one. I can just hear you. 🙂 My mom is a crooner too, and a rapper. 😀

Aww fab, lots of great memories to be had, then! Can you mom beat box?! I always think that would be a cool thing to do when I see people on YouTube or talent shows doing it 😉
