Hi!
Today’s poem is baggily based on a legendary driving ‘lesson’ my Grandmother had, as per the prompt.
A day of ‘shine –
The air sublime –
I took a ride out with him;
My checkered dress
All neatly pressed,
New hat with pretty pink trim.
“It isn’t far,
You drive the car”
He said: a smile, a titter.
I took the bait
And sealed my fate
(I’m an impulsive critter)
I paid the toll:
I lost control!
Wheels that embankment breached…
Him: [unimpressed]
“Was that your best?!”
Me: “What?! We ‘hit the beach’…!”
